A group of friends and I came down to Myrtle beach for the Annual Jeep Jam (our first time going). We were looking for a place to stay that was cozy to fit us all but also close to the event. Luckily we got both! The house was very clean when we arrived, definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone going into the area! Unfortunately, this rental was a letdown. It was a last-minute booking, but for the price, we expected a lot more. When we arrived, there was a strong smell in the kitchen area—like exhaust fumes or melted plastic—that never really went away. There were bugs crawling on the shower curtain and even on some of the walls, which was a huge red flag. After booking (non-refundable), we were hit with an unexpected extra fee, which felt pretty shady. The air conditioning struggled to keep the place cool, even with everything shut tight. The walls were dirty, the floors were sticky and uneven, and to top it off, there was a bag of trash sitting next to the back door full of maggots. It was hard to feel comfortable or clean in the space. Definitely won’t be booking this place again, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless they make some serious improvements.Anonymous - Posted: 5/18/2025
Hi Angela, I'm sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience. It would've helpful to know at the time of your checkin or even the next day of what you experienced so that we could've better accommodated you. Prior to your checkin I had done a full inspection of our Beach House inside and out. There was no trash bag left inside or outside. There were no bugs crawling in the bathrooms or any where in the house nor were the floors sticky. Our Beach House was recently painted two moths ago so not sure where on the walls you was dirty. Prior to your checkin I did advise that under our booking it states that we do require a security deposit. When you were inquiring about our Beach House, and mentioned that your other Airbnb booking was declined you, that should've been a red flag for me. Maggie was a fantastic host and the Beach House was perfect for our stay in Myrtle Beach! Easy check in/check out. We arrived to the house being clean and neat. The location was great with the beach right down the road and the shopping for necessities available around the corner. Maggie checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. This place was great. It needs some upgrades. In the living room and Kitchen. The house has only one TV. Needs more than that in such a big house. This beach house is a hidden gem, it’s a short walk to the beach and has a great brunch spot “Mimosa’s” right up the street too. My family and I booked this place as a quick 4 day vacation. Once we arrived to the address provided, we realized this house is part of a motel complex. We were confused as to where to check in, and once we entered we had to wait 15 minutes at the front desk for someone to greet us and answer the phone. Once we got access to the place, we were told the door handle must be pulled upwards to open which complicated access every time we went to enter and leave. This is a hazard. Once we entered, the place looks tidy, but as you go to sit you realize the sofa and chairs are dirty, old and have multiple stains. Entering the kitchen, it had a bad smell. At this point as it had been a long 8 hour drive, and on a 95 degree day, the air conditioning would not go below 76 degrees. They called a man to service and he changed the air filter that looked like it had never been changed. On top of this, we found 2 live cockroaches next to the bed. We enjoyed our stay in the beach cottage. I would say it is more of a vintage beach cottage with lots of charm. Only one block from the beach. The beds were super comfortable and the renovations to the bathrooms were great. We wished that the kitchen had a few more items. Convenient location. Pictures are accurate. Had a terrible smell in the kitchen. The property manager was attentive and friendly and tried to use draino in the sink and dishwasher to make it go away, but it never did. We never cooked even though we planned to because it smelled too bad. Ceiling fans and air ducts were all dirty and covered in dust. It’s connected to a motel as noted.
